When I saw this work by Lori Tomita my jaw hit the floor.   The method he uses is quite fascinating, enzymatically turning the protein transparent, dyeing the bones magenta and dyeing the cartilages blue to create transparent specimens as pieces of work that help people feel closer to the wonders of life.

The caddis fly build ‘shells’ from found objects, Hubert Duprat introduced  precious metal and gemstones into their environment that they incorporated into their aquatic larvae that protect their developing bodies by manufacturing sheaths, or cases.  This was the masterpiece they constructed.  Amazing?  I’m in awe.
